Why take a mock test
Practising one part at a time builds skills. A mock tests whether they hold up together, in order, with a clock running. Many learners do well in Part 1 practice and then run out of words in Part 2 when it comes straight after. A mock shows you that before exam day does.
What a BandGuru Speaking mock includes
- Part 1: questions about you, asked out loud by the AI examiner.
- Part 2: a cue card with a one-minute preparation timer and two minutes to speak.
- Part 3: discussion questions linked to the Part 2 topic.
- A practice band on fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, with quick fixes.
Practice bands are AI estimates, not official IELTS scores. They are most useful for spotting which criterion to work on.
How to take a mock like the real test
- Find a quiet room and check your microphone first.
- Do all three parts in one sitting, without pausing between them.
- Do not stop to look up words. In the test you cannot.
- Afterwards, read the feedback and choose one thing to fix before your next mock.
How often to take one
Take one at the start to find your level. Then one every week or two, with daily practice of single parts in between. In the last month before your test, a mock each week helps the timing feel normal.
For coaching centres
Centres can give every student timed Speaking mocks under the centre's own name, with a dashboard for seats and progress. Book a demo for your centre.

Questions learners ask
Is an online IELTS Speaking mock test like the real test?
A good mock follows the real format: three parts in order, with the same timings. The difference is that the real test is with a human examiner, and its band is official.
Is the band from a mock test official?
No. A mock test band is a practice estimate. Only the real IELTS test gives an official band.
How many mock tests should I take before IELTS?
Take one at the start to find your level, then one every week or two. Daily practice of single parts matters as much as the mocks.
